Portland Public Schools and the Benson project team will be hosting a public meeting for neighbors to learn more about the upcoming Benson Polytechnic High School Modernization project.

Master planning for the modernization of Benson Tech began as part of the 2012 School Building Improvement Bond and funding for construction was approved in the May 2017 Bond. As a Portland Historic Landmark, changes to Benson Tech are subject to City of Portland Historic Resource Review.  We’ve been working with City staff, Historic Landmarks Commission and the State Oregon State Historic Preservation Office to ensure that the proposed updates preserve the historic character while creating a 21^st century learning environment. Once approvals are in place, a three-year construction period for Benson Tech is scheduled to begin in 2021.
