Venture Portland Presents: DOZA Design Policy: Help Shape Your City Webinar

Learn about upcoming changes to Portland’s design overlay policy and how you can help ensure it positively impacts your business district.

What is DOZA & Why is it Important?

The City of Portland is changing the rules that govern the design of new commercial buildings through updated design standards and guidelines, and a Design Overlay (“D-Overlay”). The policy process is called the Design Overlay Zoning Amendments (DOZA). To find out how DOZA will affect your district, please join us on April 30, 12-1pm. Learn how you can help influence this critical policy and ensure Portland grows smart, without losing its unique identity.

The DOZA Citywide Design policy is scheduled for a first City Council hearing on May 12th and this is an opportunity to testify and advocate for your business district. Many communities and business districts are unaware of the policy and significance of this 30-year overhaul to our city’s design approach.

Venture Portland is hosting an info session to hear about the upcoming changes from the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) and potential changes PDX Main Streets would like to see for our business districts. Representatives from BPS and Urban Designer Heather Flint Chatto, Director of PDX Main Streets, will discuss design standards and strategies that contribute to diverse, walkable, affordable, and architecturally, historically and culturally significant business districts.
