- Through a partnership with the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), we are expanding our Cleaning Service to cover all of Central Eastside (the River to 12th Ave and I-84 to Powell).
- The Central Eastside Together Cleaning Service will remove trash left behind from abandoned camps, illegally dumped items, human waste, and needles, M-F 8am to 4:30pm. Service providers have been instructed to not touch personal property.
- Top priority is biohazards, which are defined as urine, feces, needles, and blood.
- CEIC has contracted with the non-profit Central City Concern’s Clean Start department to provide a portion of the cleaning services.
- CCC Clean Start crews do not move people from sites or participate in campground “sweeps.” Their mission is to help keep neighborhoods free of litter and debris, as well as to provide residents of encampments with resources to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. To request cleaning, just send a message with a description and location: clean@ceic.cc
- CCC Clean Start provides individuals who have been impacted by homelessness an opportunity to work and gain crucial experience and confidence to pursue employment opportunities in a mentored six-month work experience.
- Service providers will clean around active camps but will not displace camps. Service Providers will gladly provide folks with bags to clean up trash in their area and will collect bags from them. Central Eastside Together does not participate in “sweeps”.
- All abandoned automobiles will be reported to PBOT. Central Eastside Together service providers are not able to move automobiles.
