The Hawthorne Bridge will be closed to all users on Sunday, November 1 from 6 am until as late as 9 pm during maintenance work on the drawbridge.  Crews will be greasing the cables that raise the lift span for ships to pass. The work requires frequent and prolonged openings of the drawbridge, so the bridge will be closed to all users. This work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled for Sunday, November 8 in the event of heavy rain.
