Yeah we know – trying to get around this district is a hassle. Some business owners are having to drive around for over half-an-hour just to find a street open which will let them GET to work.

So at this Quarterly Meeting, we’re working on getting all the agencies and construction crews together to answer your questions and concerns about all their projects.

If you’ve been impacted by these projects (and who hasn’t?) you’ll want to attend this meeting. It’ll be at Madison’s on April 1st from 12:00 to 1:30 and lunch will be served. Bring some business cards as this is also a fantastic way to network with other CEIC businesses.

In 1980, ceramist and painter Michael Pratt & Reta Larson, a textile artist and incessant home remodeler, began Pratt & Larson Ceramics in Portland Oregon.

Pratt & Larson was among the first of a new wave of small companies producing original tile designs for national distribution. The company has since grown from 2 artists working in a home basement studio to over 90 people working together to produce the thousands of tiles available for order.

From the beginning, the emphasis has been on creativity, originality, and quality. The handmade ceramic tile line consists of over 1000 different shapes and sizes, mosaic patterns, textures, decorative designs, architectural trims as well as bathroom accessories and sinks.

Walk MS is taking place on Saturday, April 17. The Walk begins at 10:00 a.m. and most of the walkers should be back at the finish by 12:30 p.m.

They will be walking from Pioneer Courthouse Square to Waterfront Park. From there they will walk along the waterfront across the Steel Bridge to the East Side Esplanade and down to the Hawthorne Bridge back to Waterfront Park and back to the Square.

There will be about 2,000 walkers, but they won’t all be at each place at once. We will have three rest stops along the way – Waterfront Park at the Steel Bridge, East Side Esplanade at SE Main and Waterfront Park at SW Salmon.They will have route monitors, safety patrol and volunteers along the entire route.

The Board Members of the CEIC meet the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 AM at Goodwill Industries (1943 SE 6th Ave).
