With the loss of the Southeast Precinct, the Office of Neighborhood Involvement and the Officers that patrol our district are looking for some space to rent.
They don’t need much space. Their presence and involvement in the district is incredibly beneficial to the businesses here, and with them being in your building, you add another level of security to it.
They are willing to pay rent (but hey, this is ONI we’re talking about – please keep it reasonable!) and promise to be fantastic tenants. If you have space available for them, please contact Havilah Ferschweiler at 503-823-0540 or hferschweiler@ci.portlland.or.us
Hi everyone-
Stephanie Reynolds here, the manager of ONI’s Crime Prevention Program and Havilah’s boss. Yes, it’s true, ONI in partnership with Central Precinct wants to set up a police contact office/crime prevention office in inner SE.
We are looking for between 500 and 1000 sq. ft., secure doors and windows, access to a restroom and a sink, and parking on the street or in a lot within 200 feet or so of the office. It is also important for the public to be able to find the office easily.
On the wish list, but not totally necessary, would be access to a kitchenette and parking immediately outside (police officers need to be near their cars to minimize emergency response times).
ONI has literally no money for a space, but Central Precinct has a little. Generally, property owners donate space to the Police Bureau for contact offices, or simply ask PPB to pay utilities. The property owner misses out on market rate rent, but gains the added security of officers dropping by 24 hours/day.
If you know of a location, please contact me at 503-823-2030.
Thank you very much for your consideration!
